Our Curriculum for Confidence and Critical Thinking

The Preschool years are a critical phase where children transition from dependent learners to independent thinkers. Barn Yard Child Care Center Inc. provides a structured, yet flexible, Preschool Education program specifically designed for kindergarten readiness.  Our program begins with self-help skills, fostering critical thinking and social-emotional skills that are the base of success in elementary school and beyond. We are focused on providing a happy, play-based, educational experience; quality learning.

Focused Growth

Preschool: The Colt Room

In our younger preschool class, The Colt Room, our curriculum integrates learning across key content areas to ensure well-rounded development.

Our preschool program deliberately cultivates independence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Children participate in daily routines that include both small and large group time, which encourages collaboration and respect for others. We help students develop and maintain attention during group activities, skills that are essential in a school environment.  Our nurturing teachers guide children through conflict resolution, helping them to articulate their feelings and practice empathy.

This focus on building a strong social foundation ensures your child is not only academically prepared but also emotionally equipped to navigate the classroom setting.  Early letter and number awareness is woven organically into play, routines, and hands-on experiences supporting early recognition while keeping learning joyful and age appropriate.

Meaningful play

Pre-K: The Farmer Room

A major component of successful kindergarten transition is a child’s social and emotional readiness.  In our Pre-K classroom, The Farmer Room, we focus on Language, Literacy, and Communication by encouraging meaningful discussions, expanding vocabulary, and developing foundational pre-reading skills.  Children explore early concepts like number recognition, counting, and pattern identification through hands-on discovery. Creativity and movement are integrated into the daily schedule to allow for self-expression and understanding of the world around them. Our teachers support children in developing the ability to communicate their needs, follow directions, and demonstrate curiosity in their daily learning activities. This balanced framework is a distinguishing factor of our program.
